About iGHOST

iGHOST formed as a formal group in June of 2006 after several of its members enjoyed an evening ghost hunting at the Hannah House on Indianapolis' south side.  All of us had always been interested in the paranormal, and the opportunity to investigate a reportedly haunted location (especially as one as locally famous as the Hannah House) did nothing but solidify our desire to continue working in this field.  Before the end of the night we had agreed to form a group and investigate many more locations.  Further, we happened to meet the founder as well as several members of The Southern Indiana Ghost Hunters, SIGH, at the Hannah House, (and have learned a great deal about conducting investigations from them, as well as had the opportunity to join them on a few investigations).

After conducting research on the best way to get started and obtaining the equipment we use on our investigations, we quickly began to seek out locations to investigate, and have been going strong ever since.  We continue to actively seek new locations to investigate, as well as form relationships with other local paranormal investigation groups.  Our sole purpose is not to compete with other groups, but to contribute to the field of paranormal research in any way that we can by continuing our mission to attempt to capture proof positive of the paranormal world. Thank you for visiting our site!

Shanna, Co-Founder and Lead Investigator

My perspectives started to change as I got older. I currently work as a nurse, and one of the unfortunate parts of nursing is dealing with death and dying. I found through my 12 years of experience, that some of the patients that were dying started seeing people that werent there. They will see their deceased husband or wife, point at the wall and ask me if I see that man, and start having short conversations with an unseen presence. This does not happen with every patient, but I've seen it enough times to where it made me think. Is it the lack of oxygen and their vital organs slowly shutting down that is causing them to have delusions and hallucinations? Are they really seeing their loved ones, welcoming them to the other side? These questions, as well as the desire to help other people in need, only made me want to pursue the paranormal further. Hence, one of the many reasons iGHOST was formed."

Matt, Co-Founder, Lead Investigator, Webmaster

matt001.jpg"I have always been interested in ghost stories.  I remember watching "Poltergeist" in 1982, and as an 8 year old kid, parts of it were frightening, yet fascinating at the same time. I was intrigued at the very idea of ghosts, what they represented, whether or not they could truly communicate with us.  Basically my young mind just thought they were cool. I read about ghosts, haunted houses, poltergeists, etc., and what remained in the back of my mind for years, was that I always told myself that if ever given the chance, I would spend the night in a haunted house just for the experience. I finally got my chance in the summer of 2005 when my friend and co-founder,Shanna, and I along with a few other friends spent the night in the reportedly haunted Hannah House on the south-side of Indianapolis.  It was an exhilarating night, mainly because it was so new and I didn't know what to expect at any given turn.  There we met some great people who were already somewhat established in the field of paranormal research.  They were nice enough to allow us to follow them around, answer our questions, and give us a better understanding of what ghost hunting really is; the realities versus the TV perceptions.  That night, we formed iGHOST.  It was shaky at first, and while we had some guidance, we basically struck out on our own and learned as much as we could, and as opportunities came along, we gained more and more experience.  iGHOST has gone through a lot of changes over the years, but it keeps growing and getting better all the time.  It's a passion that can be both exciting and frustrating at the same time, but it's a passion none the less, and it is something that helps define who I am."

Erica, Treasurer, Investigator

Leah, Investigator

leah02.jpg"I have always been interested in the paranormal since I was about 5. I lived in a "haunted house" and have spent the rest of my life trying to figure out if it all was my childhood imagination or if it was all for real. I am a bit of a skeptic and don't believe it until I see it. So, I guess you can say I have been looking for that "proof" the rest of the world is also looking for. There have been some things happen I cant explain, but that doesn't prove to me that there is paranormal life after death. Another thing I can say that I am searching for is the difference or explanation of demons. I personally don't believe in them but so many people swear that they are surrounded by them. A lot of people want and need help that I (with the great family members of iGHOST) want to give to them. It makes us feel good to be able to put clients mind at ease, even if it is debunking the paranormal activity."

"I have been interested in the paranormal and cryptozoology since I can remember. As an early teen I believed in the paranormal and thought I had experiences. Looking back, as an adult, I now find myself wondering if it was real or just an overactive imagination. I had not really been exposed to death until early adulthood and took the possibility of life after death for granted. I have been around people in their final days of life and witnessed them talking to relatives that had previously passed away; this has always made me wonder. It wasn't until a few years ago I took a more active role in paranormal investigations to prove to myself beyond a any doubt that it is or is not factual. I have heard many stories and even seen and heard things I can't quite explain. The only problem is, I can't prove them. My goal as a paranormal investigator is to get that proof."

"I have been interested in the paranormal since I was a child. I really never had any experiences growing up but I was always fascinated by ghost stories and really wanted to see a ghost or have something move across the room on its own. I’ve always talked to friends and loved ones after they have died hoping maybe one day they would respond. When I was 25 working at a nursing home I had my first "ghostly" experience. Shortly thereafter I met Shanna and in March of 2010 I joined the group. Joining iGHOST has been very educational for me. Although I believe in ghosts, I don’t automatically assume that every noise I hear and every movement I see is some sort of paranormal activity. I try to debunk as much as I can and keep an open mind about everything. I’m a very curious person so I have a lot of questions that I am looking for the answers to. It’s nice knowing there are other people who share my interests and curiosity with the paranormal. I didn’t join iGHOST looking for "proof" that ghosts exist because I believe that there are spirits among us. I guess I am just looking for a way of communicating with them and getting some questions answered."

Chris, Tech Specialist, Investigator

chrisheadshot.jpg"I was born and raised in Indiana. I've always had an interest in the paranormal and cryptozoology. It wasn't until my wife and I were dating that i pursued it further. She had wanted to do something special for my birthday and she found an overnight investigation in Willow Springs Illinois. We had never done anything like it and we were excited to say the least. After several hours we headed home. While my wife was driving I decided to review our pictures, after looking at a few I noticed one that looked odd. We pulled over and looked at it and found it to be a full body apparition. We were so excited we rushed back to the location to show everyone, I have been hooked ever since. I guess to me the question is not "are there ghosts", but "how can we communicate we the departed"? It is very exciting to hear an EVP or capture something on film, knowing that someone was just with you and trying to communicate."

angelaheadshot.jpg"I've lived in Indiana most of my life.  I have one sister and one daughter.  I got married for the first time on Halloween in 2009.  My husband and I have been interested in the paranormal since before we met.  I wanted to find something new for his birthday 8 years ago, and I found a haunted place to go to in Illinois.  It was Rico D's in Willowsprings.  It was our first trip to a haunted location together and we've been hooked since!  We enjoy going to many different places and meeting new people.  I do enjoy seeing all the haunted places we go to but I think meeting all the people (and making new friends) is what keeps me going back."
